Filipino pop music, otherwise known as Original Pilipino Music or OPM, refers broadly to the pop music that first emerged in the Philippines in the early ’70s and has since come to dominate radio airplay and karaoke playlists in the Filipino market and beyond. On Spotify, OPM has reached 10 billion streams, with listeners in the Philippines as well as in the immigrant communities of Singapore, the United States, and Hong Kong.

Favorite Music Bands/ Artist in Philippines 🇵🇭

ORANGE AND LEMONS– is a defunct group, but they were one of the most popular Filipino crossover indie pop/rock band during their active ears. Composed of Clementine/Clem Castro on vocals and guitars, Mcoy Fundales on vocals and rhythm guitars, JM Del Mundo on bass (2002-2007), Ace Del Mundo on drums (2002-2007), Law Santiago on bass (1999-2002), and Michael Salvador on drums (1999-2002)
MARTIN NIEVERA-Nievera is often called the “Concert King” of the Philippines. His early exposure in music was that of his father’s singing group S.O.S. (A Society of Seven). His family moved to the US in the late 70s and in 1982, Martin Nievera came back to the Philippines to pursue his own musical career, releasing his first LP called Martin … Take One. Martin shortly began co-hosting a variety TV Show called Penthouse Live! with Pops Fernandez who would later become his wife.
GLOC 9- is an award – winning Filipino rapper who because of his fast vocals has become one of the premiere hip-hop artists in the Philippines. He was also coined the fastest rapper in the Philippines for such amazing ability he showcases. This was evident when he bagged the award for being the Rap Artist of the Year for four consecutive years (2005 – 2008) in the Philippine Annual Hip-Hop Awards. Among his achievements were his voice and television appearances on different local television networks and some product endorsements.
APRIL BOY REGINO-was born in a railroad side shanty in Caloocan City and is the fourth of eight children of Regino and Lucena Bariso Regino. Becoming the breadwinner of the family at age ten, April Boy decided to join every amateur singing contest there is. From then on he has been honing his talents, futher nurturing it in Japan. Returning to the Philippines, April Boy tries his hand on composing via the song Sana’y Laging Magkapiling written and dedicated to Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion (who was an item by that time).
ERASERHEADS-The band that spearheaded the big pinoy rock movement during the 90’s. Formed in 1989, the Eraserheads (Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro) revived interest in original Pilipino music as they introduced pop sound with a twist of novelty.
